2018 Heartland North Trail 23RBS
We fell in love with this floor plan because of the dual slides and the ultra-low towing weight. What a difference it makes when someone can be cooking a meal and not have to fight with others for precious floor and counter space. Having the center island gives plenty of precious counter space as well as providing a large double sinks. This trailer also has a gigantic dual-power refrigerator/freezer with lots of shelves and drawers. The bathroom is huge and has a spacious shower that it’s in the rear of the trailer so it’s easily accessible even with both slides in.

We really wanted the queen-size bed that is always ready for use, whether at a campground or a highway rest stop, and the dual LED lighting in bed is really nice for reading when not watching the spin-around LED TV. The bedroom separator wall came with sliding doors for privacy but we took them out to provide a bit more room around the bed. They are easy to reinstall if that is desirable for your use. The U-shaped dinette converts into a second bed that is actually long enough for an adult to sleep on it, a rarity in most trailers. The high ceiling are also nice as all the A/C duct work is hidden in the foam-core roof so nothing is hanging down inside the trailer.
We bought this 2018 23RBS trailer brand new in January 2019 in St. Louis and drove it back to San Diego for a vacation. It was toasty warm in the coldest winter storms and we never worried about things freezing. That’s because it is fully winterized with below floor heating and the ability to easily drain all fluids or fill the lines with antifreeze. With 2″ thick insulated walls and a 4″ thick roof it is equally comfortable in 100°+ weather as it is below freezing. This is the perfect trailer for the beach, the desert, or the mountains regardless of the time of year you plan to travel.
This Heartland 23RBS North Trail is the Caliber version, it comes with the top of the line trim on everything inside and out. I really wanted the solid fiberglass front dome and the electric jacks all around, both standard on the Caliber as part of over a dozen key upgrades like: Solid Surface Counters, Hidden Hinges, Porcelain Toilet, Electric Stabilizer Jacks, Stainless Steel double Sink, Flat Screen TV, DVD player, Central Vacuum, Power Tongue Jack, Pull-out Rear Bumper Storage Rack, Stove/Oven Combo, and Black Tank Flush Kit. It has a large electric awning with LED lighting built in. The water heater is dual power, gas or electric, which is nice when you’re in a campsite with power.
We didn’t stop there. We upgraded the faucet in the bathroom, added black-out curtains on all interior windows, nice storage trays and baskets in the main area and bathroom cabinets, clothes bins in the bedroom cabinets, stacked drawers in the front pantry, and tableware trays. We bought an ADCO RV cover to keep it protected when not in use and added matching custom covers for the spare tire and propane tank. It comes with a hitch lock to prevent tampering or theft and will also include the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution tow hitch w/ 2-Point Sway Control.
This trailer weighs less than 6000 pounds ready to roll which makes it practical to tow with a 1/2 ton truck. It trailers beautifully on the highway as well as tracks effortlessly on 2-lane country roads. With plenty of outside storage you can keep the inside of the trailer free from clutter while still getting easy access to your camping gear and toys. I really like the huge pull-out rear luggage rack that can carry 200 pounds of gear behind the trailer for things like camping gear, coolers, bicycles or even a small motorcycle.
If you are looking for the perfect trailer for 2 adults and 2 children then this is it. The 2020 23RBS Caliber edition retails for nearly $40,000. This trailer still looks new inside and out. It also will cost you less than 1/2 the price of a new one. Feel free to ask questions if I’ve left anything out.
